Report Highlights Environmental Services and Byproduct Recycling Company’s Ongoing
Commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Initiatives

LOUISVILLE, KY (May 20, 2024) – Charah® Solutions, Inc., a leading provider of mission-critical environmental services and byproduct recycling to the power generation industry, today published its 2023 ESG At A Glance Report which highlights the Company’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance in 2023 and its continued commitment to environmental responsibility, employees, communities, and customers.

Key 2023 achievements include:

Environmental
• 3.6% net operational water consumption vs. wastewater treated and returned to the environment
• 4.82 million tons of coal combustion residuals (CCRs) recycled for beneficial use
• 4.03 million tons of CO2 saved from entering the atmosphere by recycling CCRs
• $169 million estimated social cost of carbon credit based on net greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions
• 4.82 million tons of materials diverted from landfill disposal
• 587,925 tons of gypsum recycled
• 20 ponds cleaned and closed and 1 mine reclaimed since 2015
• Approximately 5,228 acres of land reclaimed since 2015
• 305 million gallons of wastewater treated
• No incidents of non-compliance associated with air emissions and of non-compliance with other environmental disciplines

Safety
• 0.00 Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR)
• There-year average Experience Modification Rate (EMR) of less than 0.56
• More than 1.1 million work hours in 2023 without a Lost Time Injury
• Improved the number and quality of site inspections and audits performed by our safety professionals and site team members in 2023 with more than 10,730 inspections and 682,480 observations
• Commitment to our employees with a work environment characterized by considerate treatment of others, open and honest communication, personal accountability, trust, and mutual respect to provide superior service and sustainable solutions for our customers.

Diversity and Inclusion
• Increased the diversity of our Board of Directors from 25% in 2022 to 33% in 2023
• Increased our diverse workforce (people of color and female) from 18.9% in 2022 to 21.2% in 2023
