Charah Solutions Awarded Event-Free Safety Award from
Duke Energy in Florida

LOUISVILLE, KY (August 28, 2019) – Charah® Solutions, Inc. (NYSE: CHRA) (the “Company”), a leading provider of environmental and maintenance services to the power generation industry, today announced that it recently received a prestigious award from Duke Energy for its outstanding record of employee safety at the Crystal River Energy Complex in Citrus Country, Florida. The Event-Free Award was presented during the Duke Contractor Safety Summit on August 14, 2019 at the College of Central Florida in Lecanto, Florida. The award recognized Charah Solutions’ achievement of 38,375 man-hours worked event-free, without a lost time incident, in 2018.

Duke Energy’s Event-Free Awards are awarded annually to Florida contractors free of any safety, health or environmental violations who have achieved 20,000 man-hours worked without experiencing a lost-time injury or illness. Charah Solutions was one of only six contractors in the state of Florida to receive this award for 2018 and this was the Company’s third consecutive year to receive this safety recognition.

At the Crystal River Energy Complex, Charah Solutions has 22 employees working hand in hand with plant operators seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day to manage limestone, urea and landfill operations among other projects.
